The United Nations Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) addresses global disarmament, arms regulation, and international security. As technologies like artificial intelligence advance, the world faces a new threat: lethal autonomous weapon systems (LAWS).

This committee will address two topics. Topic A examines how a multipolar world should approach the development, trade, and regulation of LAWS. Delegates will debate how to balance national security interests with the need for international safeguards. Topic B addresses legal responsibility for LAWS, asking which parties should be held accountable if war crimes or other malicious acts are committed with them. Delegates will explore questions of liability among states, developers, and military commanders, and propose frameworks for accountability.

As the race to develop autonomous weapons accelerates, delegates must confront the balance between technological advancement, national security, and international accountability. Through debate and negotiation, they must determine whether the world can establish meaningful safeguards before the technology outpaces the law.
