The UMDMUN Executive Board
The UMDMUN Executive Board comprises of a driven body of University of Maryland students committed to empowering their peers and instituting the highest standards of education possible.
JENNA BURTCH (Co-President)
Jenna Burtch is a fourth year student studying Government & Politics and Communications with a Minor in Rhetoric. She has been doing Model UN for 8 years and is currently a Co-President of UMDMUN and previously served as Secretary General & Director General of UMUNC IV and V. Outside of MUN, Jenna works in the political communications field and she is originally from Southern Maryland.
ISRA QADRI (Co-President)
Isra is a senior Bachelors/Master’s student studying Public Policy and Middle East Studies. She was involved in Model UN all throughout high school and has been competing with UMD since her freshman year. On campus, she is also in the Honors College and is the Director of Professional Development for Kappa Omega Alpha Public Policy Professional Fraternity.
AYUSHMAAN KHURANA (Secretary General)
Ayushmaan is a junior Comp Sci and Math double major. He has been involved in Model UN for 8 years, the last 2 being at UMD. He enjoys competing in ad-hoc committees and is serving as the Secretary General for UMUNC VI. Outside of MUN, he spends his time working on 3D art, cooking, and binge-watching TV shows.
ELENA JAIMES (Director General)
Elena Jaimes is a second-year International Relations and Chinese student. She has been involved with Model UN for over three years and is currently the Director General for UMUNC. She is originally from Miass, Russia and grew up in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Her hobbies include soccer, snowboarding, and hiking. She hopes to become a diplomat in the future and her favorite animal is a panda.
JASMINE SONPAR (Chief of Staff)
Jasmine Sonpar is a sophomore at the University of Maryland studying English and Public Policy as a double major. Outside of Model UN, Jasmine competes on Mock Trial and volunteers for Sobar, a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness about addiction. Jasmine has been in Model UN for five years. Last year Jasmine Chaired UNODC, and now acts as Chief of Staff. Jasmine handles matters relating to UMUNC logistics and committee preparation.
SAMANTHA FRINK (Charge D’Affaires)
Samantha is a sophomore studying Biological Sciences and Government and Politics. She is from Ellicott City, Maryland, and is excited to be your Chair of Delegate Affairs for UMUNC VI! Aside from UMUNC, Sam is involved in the QUEST and ILS programs on campus and loves to volunteer at the Baltimore Humane Society, watch Jeopardy, and learn new languages. She cannot wait to welcome all of the delegates in the spring!
PRAGYA JHA (Director of Logistics)
Pragya Jha is a final-year Computer Science and Finance student. She has been involved in Model UN since high school and currently serves as the Under-Secretary-General of Logistics for UMUNC. Pragya, originally from Germantown, Maryland, also enjoys weightlifting and making drinks. She will be working as a Product Manager after graduation and hopes to continue to use the public speaking and collaboration skills she has developed through her time in Model UN.
ANGELINA HERMOSILLA ROMAN (Director of Finance)
Angelina is a sophomore studying business for her Bachelors in Information Systems and Operations Management & Business Analytics. She has been involved in Model UN for almost 6 years now and serves as a part of the UMD travel team. As a student in the UMD Honors College she is pursuing a citation in cybersecurity. At UMD, she also serves as the President of the First Generation Student Association and is a member of the Robert H. Smith Business School’s Community Council.
SIMI MANTHINI (Junior Officer)
Simi is a sophomore Computer Science and Philosophy student. This is her second year with UMD’s ModelUN team and she is currently the club’s Junior Officer. She was born and raised in Maryland, and currently lives in Poolesville, MD. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, knitting, and playing PC games. She is excited to see what the future holds!
SID KEJ (Director of Technology)
Siddhant Kejriwal, a junior studying Computer Science, is the director of technology for UMD Model UN. Originally from Chicago, he enjoys spending his free time golfing and weightlifting. With plans to become a Software Engineer after graduation, Siddhant aims to apply the collaboration and public speaking skills he gained from his involvement in Model UN to his future career.
LINH LE (Director of Marketing and Recruitment)
Linh Le is an undergraduate at UMD studying history and accounting. Her fields of interest include East Asia and the United States, and global geopolitics, and she is always looking to expand her knowledge base. As the director of Marketing and Recruitment for UMDMUN, she works with the secretary general on social media outreach and campus recruitment activities. In her free time, she enjoys painting and playing video games.
KAVYA VANDAVASI (USG of Philanthropy)
Kavya Vandavasi is a third-year Government and Psychology student. She’s been involved with Model UN for one year and is currently the Undersecretary General of Philanthropy for UMUNC. She grew up in Northern Virginia, and her hobbies include singing, reading, and watching awful television. She hopes to be a lawyer in the future, and she’s looking forward to a great conference.
