ADDRESSING THE MAJOR BUDGET DEFICIT OF UMUNC UNIVERSITY WHILE PROTECTING THE INTERESTS OF THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY
UMUNC University was founded in 1898 and began as a small liberal arts college dedicated to expanding access to higher education and preparing students for lives of public service and civic engagement. Throughout the early twentieth century, UMUNC steadily expanded its curriculum, welcomed students from all over, and established itself as a respected institution within the region. However, UMUNC’s success came to an abrupt halt following a major financial scandal that shook the institution to its core. The scandal severely damaged UMUNC’s reputation and left the university struggling to meet its financial obligations.
This specialized hybrid committee focuses on advancing solutions to address the challenges of UMUNC University. The primary issue that the council needs to address is a major budget deficit that is actively threatening the university’s ability to continue operating. This council has been selected to create and approve a recovery plan which will stabilize the university’s finances while continuing to protect the community’s interests. As unexpected developments begin to arise, there may be a slight change in priorities regarding how the deficit is addressed.
Delegates are advised to focus on ethical and effective monetary solutions for UMUNC University’s budget deficit, as well as reestablishing the University's reputation. Delegates should balance the well-being of university staff and the institution as a foundation for professional development for students, reinstating the school as a respected part of the community.
