NUCLEAR CRISIS 2028: THE EDGE OF GLOBAL CATASTROPHE
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is one of the most influential bodies of the United Nations, tasked with maintaining international peace and security, addressing threats to global stability, and coordinating international responses to conflict. In 1945, the UNSC was established under the United Nations Charter and has played a central role in navigating the complexities of international relations in the nuclear age. That same year, the United States deployed two nuclear weapons against the Empire of Japan, marking the beginning of a nuclear era. By 2028, the threat of nuclear conflict has once again come to dominate the global consciousness.
This hybrid double-delegate committee will confront a hypothetical nuclear crisis in 2028, following the detonation of a nuclear weapon over Taipei. Delegates must navigate escalating international tensions, determine appropriate responses to the attack, and consider the implications of military intervention, diplomatic negotiations, and nuclear deterrence. Through the development of directives, delegates will work to manage the crisis. By the final session, delegates are expected to present resolutions addressing the aftermath of the attack and outlining a path toward international stability.
Can national interests and the responsibility to preserve international peace truly be balanced, or will the world ascend into a state of chaos and unrest?
