2014 PANDEMIC PROTOCOL AND CONSEQUENCES OF THE EBOLA OUTBREAK
The World Health Organization (WHO) is a United Nations agency that champions global efforts to expand universal health coverage and respond to health emergencies. Set in 2014, this committee faces the largest outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus and a global shift toward recognizing and improving the global food system.
This General Assembly will be tasked with minimizing the spread of Ebola around the world. Delegates will be challenged to evaluate protocols to prevent a pandemic. With non-communicable diseases associated with a poor diet continuing to manifest, the WHO must protect current and future generations from the consequences of decades of dietary indifference. For the second topic, delegates will address the connection between pandemic policies and economic instability as well as food insecurity.
Delegates will debate critical issues of global health while balancing questions of state sovereignty and navigating cultural customs. Through comprehensive debate, delegates will learn about the challenges of tackling emerging pandemics, preserving public order, and implementing major global health initiatives.
