THE ARCTIC’S TERRITORIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONFLICTS

The Arctic Council is an organization founded to address issues in the Arctic region. This committee will focus on partitioning the Arctic, along with addressing climate change. The Arctic faces unique challenges such as pollution and extinction within the context of Global Warming. Topic A will address rising temperatures and decreased biodiversity. Since the Arctic is not owned by any state, several countries have desires to imperialize the area. Through topic B,  delegates will discuss border issues, international security, and the indigenous people of the area through the partition of the Arctic. Delegates are encouraged to consider the land and economic gains and weigh the costs of climate change on the Arctic.
